The Executive Committee is tasked with assisting and advising the Chief Executive in the day-to-day running of the organisation. The Committee is made up of senior MPS employees who have extensive experience and specialised knowledge. They are committed to delivering the best possible service to members.

Simon Kayll

Chief Executive

Simon Kayll became Chief Executive of MPS in 2012, having previously served as Finance Director for MPS since 1999. As Chief Executive, Simon is responsible for leading MPS to implement the strategy developed by Council. This includes:

  • promoting and maintaining the values of MPS
  • regularly reviewing MPS’s risk assessment procedures
  • overseeing all major operational issues
  • monitoring the company's financial performance.
Simon is also a Director of MPI.

Simon gained a BA (Hons) in accounting and economics at Oxford Brookes University, before going on to achieve an MBA at Manchester Business School. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Simon qualified as an accountant with RSM Robson Rhodes LLP and spent a number of years as a management consultant, specialising in the financial service and legal sectors.

Rob Hemson

Executive Director of Finance

As Finance Director, Rob is responsible for the leadership of the Finance Division to provide strategic guidance, ensuring that MPS’s commitments are met. Rob has over 25 years of financial services experience in a variety of leadership roles including financial consultancy, strategic planning, forecasting and regulatory accounting.

Prior to joining MPS, Rob was the Group Finance Director of TD Wealth International, approved by the Financial Conduct Authority to carry out the controlled function of CF1 Director for TD Direct Investing and was a member of the Board.

Rob spent 18 years at Lloyds Banking Group, HBOS plc and Halifax Building Society primarily in senior finance and investor relations roles within Group, Retail and Insurance and Investment divisions and was heavily involved in leading merger and acquisition-related finance projects.

He started his career in audit at KPMG before moving into finance. He has a BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree and is a Chartered Management Accountant.

Howard Kew

Executive Director of Insurance and ELS

Howard has over 20 years' experience in financial services, having originally graduated in Mathematics from the University of Leeds (UK). He has experience in the mutual sector and with one of the UK’s leading insurance companies where he was finance director of their personal finance subsidiary. He has had extensive involvement in investment, credit management and capital markets and is a qualified corporate treasurer.

He has also been closely involved in economic development in the Leeds city region and has promoted the financial and professional service sector internationally, including lobbying at local and national government level.

Susan Easteal

Executive Director of Risk and Compliance

Susan Easteal provides risk and compliance direction to the executive and senior leaders of MPS. She is responsible for fostering a member-focused and appropriate risk culture across the business which supports the delivery of financial security of our membership fund.

Prior to taking up her role at MPS in 2017, Susan spent over 20 years in both regulatory and risk fields within the financial services sector, building her skills and expertise through both industry and consultancy-based roles.

She has extensive experience in determining appropriate risk management strategy, including the design and implementation of appropriate frameworks to deliver effective assurance and a source of competitive advantage.
 

Beverly Proctor

Executive Director of People and Culture
Interim Executive Director of Member Protection and Support


Beverley Proctor joined MPS in July 2016 as Director of HR before being promoted to Executive Director in March 2017.

She has responsibility for the development and delivery of our HR and Talent & Development strategy, which aims to develop highly engaged and technically excellent people who feel able to achieve their full potential.

On an interim basis Beverley is accountable for the Member Protection and Support Division which is at the forefront of protecting the careers, reputation and financial risk of our members worldwide. She has responsibility for ensuring the provision of excellent service delivery, which is trusted and valued by members and provides fair treatment and outcomes.

Prior to joining MPS, she held senior HR roles at Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc, leading on the organisational development of their Transformational Programme across logistics, manufacturing, e-commerce, and head office functions. She has also served as HR Director at Direct Line Group’s Green Flag and UKI Partnerships (B2B), involved in the acquisitions and integration of multiple companies in their portfolio. Through her tenure, she ensured the training and competency frameworks, processes, and systems were established to meet regulatory requirements.

She has over 20 years’ expertise in organisational development, change management, HR mergers and acquisitions, HR strategy, strategic organisation design, change leadership and talent and performance management.
 

Mark Randerson

Executive Director of Business Development and Engagement

Mark Randerson is responsible for leading business development, marketing, communications, direct sales and operations, and risk prevention services teams internationally.

Mark studied at Newcastle, Surrey, Humberside and Hull Universities gaining a BSc (Hons), MSc in Management, an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing.

Having initially trained in general management, Mark further developed his corporate experience through senior commercial roles in strategy, sales, marketing and customer service for BUPA, RAC Group, HBOS and GE.

Mark then moved into senior leadership roles in fast-paced, private equity backed companies specialising in financial services, insurance and healthcare sectors with an appetite for growth or strategic transformation.

Mark joined MPS in 2014 as Commercial Director and was promoted to Executive Director in May 2016.

Tim Jordan

Executive Director – Commercial Services

Tim is responsible for product and proposition, member experience, pricing, actuarial, underwriting and investment strategy on MPS’s asset portfolio.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (2008) and also a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (2013). Before joining MPS in June 2014 he had a varied actuarial career with RSA, KPMG and the MDU. Before becoming an actuary, Tim was also a qualified stockbroker and independent financial advisor.

David Wheeler

General Counsel

As General Counsel, David is responsible for providing and obtaining legal advice on a wide range of corporate legal issues affecting the MPS group. He is a director of the MPS Periodical Payments Trust and the company secretary for MPS, MPI and MPSrs. He is also secretary to the Ethics Committee of Council.

David obtained a law degree at Leeds University in the UK before completing his Law Society finals at the College of Law at Lancaster Gate London.

He qualified as a solicitor in 1990 in private practice and then moved in-house. Before joining MPS in June 2011, he spent over 20 years as in-house counsel in the IT, finance, banking and not for profit sectors including roles at international organisations and UK and US listed companies.

Andrew Rook

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Andrew joined MPS in 2019 and is responsible for the Centre of Excellence and Delivery in Business Change and Process Analysis, and the Centre of Excellence and Delivery for Programme and Project Management. He is also responsible for enterprise architecture and IT operations.

Andrew is a certified Project Practitioner across a number of disciplines including MSP, Prince2 and Agile/Scrum. He also holds service management accreditations and is a member of the British Computer Society and a certified IT Professional.

Andrew has over 20 years of experience working in senior technology leadership and consulting roles at many large and small organisations. This includes BullGuard (IT Director), OPP (CIO), SHL (CIO/CTO), Totalise (CIO/CTO), Ventura (Head of IT Service Delivery), AXA / InterPartner Assistance (UK IT Manager), United Parcel Service (European Special Projects Manager/North Europe and Africa Middle East IT Manager).
