Dental Protection has launched a refreshed suite of resources to help dental students practice for one of the most important milestones in their early careers, the Situational Judgement Test (SJT).

The SJT practice material – which includes 50 realistic scenarios, interactive question formats, immediate feedback and model answers – can be accessed any time and at no extra cost, on Dental Protection’s Learning Hub. It will allow dental students to test judgement across key areas like professional integrity, resilience, empathy, communication, and working effectively as part of a team.

Dr George Wright, Dental Director at Dental Protection, said: “The Situational Judgement Test is a mandatory part of the UK national recruitment process for Dental Foundation Training. It is a key step designed to ensure that newly qualified dentists have the professional behaviours required for safe practice.

“We know that students do not always actively seek out this type of content, but we have taken a responsive approach to ensure that our SJT practice resources – unlike standard practice papers – help students to understand how to think, and not just what to answer. A strong SJT score can significantly shape a student’s early career path.

“The practice material includes 50 realistic scenarios, interactive question formats, immediate feedback and model answers, and clear rationales explaining why responses are optimal. Dental Protection supports members at every stage of the dental career journey, including preparation for the vital SJT in November.”

Dental student members can log into their Learning Hub account to practice for the SJT here: https://prism.medicalprotection.org/course/view.php?id=1857. All resources available on The Learning Hub are included at no extra cost for Dental Protection members and can be used to count towards a dental professional’s CPD.
