Dental Protection is pleased to announce the appointment of former Dentolegal Adviser, Dr Martin Foster as the new Head of Dental Services in Ireland

Dr Foster, a registered Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry with a Master’s degree in Public health, a Diploma in Health Service Management and a background in general practice, qualified from Edinburgh Dental School in 1986.

He was previously responsible for NHS Lothian Children’s Dental Service as an Assistant Clinical Director, and is a regular presenter on a range of legal and ethical issues with a particular interest in communication and risk management.

In addition to his clinical role, he has an ongoing interest in legal issues leading to the completion of legal examinations with the Faculty of Advocates.

His main areas of focus as the Head of Dental Services will include maintaining the high quality of services provided by Dental Protection and developing them further with the valuable insight provided by the Ireland Advisory Panel, chaired by Dr Jane Renehan.

As part of the new role in Dental Protection, Dr Foster will also continue to collaborate with the Irish Dental Association, challenging some of the key issues facing dentists in Ireland.

Dr Foster’s appointment follows the recent departure of Dr Sue Boynton after more than five years in the role.
