Final year dental student Kishon Barnes shares her succinct advice for new dentists at the start of their training.
______
1. Imposter syndrome is real and you will experience this a lot during your tenure at dental school. But not to fear, this just means you are being challenged and you are doing perfectly fine! Focus on you and only you!
2. The friendships you build in dental school will definitely become your biggest support system for the next few years, make the most of it!
3. Prioritize your mental health…. Yes good grades are excellent but make sure you’re taking the time out to stop and smell the roses here and there
4. Perfectionism can be very harmful, it is okay to make mistakes especially in dental school, this is where you get to learn and correct those mistakes!
5. Lastly, time management is your best friend because dental school can get overbearing at times. Plan ahead of time and don’t drown away in those books!
