Our Media Centre provides media handling support to members and is also the place for journalists to come to request interviews or commentary on key issues affecting dentists and other healthcare professionals.

Information for journalists

Our Press Office assists with media requests for information or commentary on the dentolegal and medicolegal, ethical and healthcare policy issues of the day.

Our spokespeople are experienced, authoritative and well placed to comment on issues that affect the practice of doctors and other healthcare professionals, and include registered dental and medical practitioners and those who hold legal qualifications.

We also issue press releases, designed to keep you informed of the public statements we make, including comment on emerging issues, policy and analysis of our data.

New member of the Dental Protection team

Dr Noel KavanaghWe are delighted to welcome Dr Noel Kavanagh B.A., B.Dent.Sc (TCD) to Dental Protection. Noel will be working with members to help manage clinical risk and ensure members’ needs are met.

Noel has worked in general dental practice in Kilkenny City for 19 years, and also held a position as a clinical supervisor in the Dublin Dental Hospital. He has worked as both an associate and principal dentist in the UK, before he returned to Ireland in 2000.

Noel’s main clinical interests are adhesive and minimally-invasive dentistry. He has delivered lectures at Dublin Dental Hospital and at the HSE’s national conference for dentists. He organised and delivered hands-on posterior composite courses for the HSE dentists and delivered compliance workshops for both the IDA and IFPDC.

Noel is a member of the IDA and has served as a GDP representative and on the Quality and Patient Safety Committee. He has served on the committee of the Irish Faculty of Primary Dental Care and holds a Diploma of Membership of The Joint Dental Faculties of The Royal College of Surgeons of England MJDF RCS (Eng). He was awarded a Professional Certificate in Medico Legal Aspects of Health Care and a Graduate Diploma in Health Care (Risk Management and Quality) from the Forensic and Legal Medicine Dept. of UCD.
