Webinar: Under Pressure Part 1 - the ‘dental’ factors

  • Dates: 23 – 23 May, 2019

Date:  Thursday 23 May 2019
19.00 – 20.00 NZST
Suitable for: All New Zealand Dental members
Cost: Free for members

Has concern or worry for a patient, colleague or your workplace stayed with you long after your work has finished that day?

The answer is probably yes. Anxiety like this is common, affecting a surprisingly large percentage of dental practitioners. This state of mind may lead to burnout, which poses a serious threat to dentists worldwide.

Join Dr Annalene Weston, practising dentist and Dentolegal Adviser for Dental Protection Australia for this interactive webinar, as she explores the causes and consequences of burnout.

Pressure does not discriminate, so this live one-hour webinar is for all dental practitioners and their staff, and will focus on the risk of burnout caused by the pressure cooker of the dental surgery.

With an opportunity for real time questions and answers during the broadcast, this is the ideal way to have the expertise of Dental Protection brought directly to you.

By the end of the webinar you will:

• Discuss the impact of stress in dentistry
• Recognise the causes and symptoms of burnout related to your work
• Apply practical strategies to better manage the ‘stresses of practice’

Dr Annalene Weston

She worked on the eastern Australian seaboard, in both public and private practice and completed a Masters in Health Law from Sydney University in 2008. Following this, Annalene worked on a local Health Complaints Commission before commencing work as a Dentolegal Adviser for Dental Protection in 2010.

Annalene is a practising dentist and in 2016 was awarded a Fellowship of the American College of Dentistry. The Fellowship was awarded in recognition of the work she does with young dental practitioners, particularly in ethics. In recognition of the same, Annalene has been awarded a Fellowship of Pierre Fauchard Academy this year.

Dr Weston will be joined by Dr David Crum, Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Dental Association.
