The Medical Protection team in the Caribbean and Bermuda provides members with a regional service that ensures local support and information from a visible team on the ground.

Ruth Russell Hutton








Ruth Russell Hutton is the Business Development Manager and brings to her role 27 years expertise in sales and marketing. This includes 21 years experience in researching, analysing and developing marketing strategies and business plans for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries throughout the English-speaking Caribbean.

Ruth holds a BSc in Marketing and an Associate’s degree in Institutional & Catering Management. She is based in Jamaica.

 

Steven Joseph









Steven Joseph is the Business Development Executive and supports Ruth in liaising directly with Dental Protection members across the Caribbean and Bermuda region. Steven is based in Trinidad and Tobago and has a diverse career that includes marketing, sales, education, training and development, and sports administration. Steven also has a BA in International Studies and an MBA in Global Management.

Andrew Bromfield









Andrew Bromfield is a Dental Protection Consultant facilitating renewals and membership fee payments for Dental Protection members in Jamaica. Andrew also assists with membership queries, liaising with the Membership team in the UK where appropriate, and conducts welcome calls to new members across the Caribbean and Bermuda. Andrew is based in Jamaica and has a diverse career that has seen him holding managerial, training, technical, and supervisory positions within the engineering, sales, property management, and I.T. sectors, as well as being a managing director of a successful I.T. business. 

Ruth and Steven both work across 18 English-speaking countries, which each have their own particular culture and nuance. Ruth covers the north and Steven the south, which takes in the whole territory of the Caribbean and Bermuda that runs from Guyana in the south to Bermuda in the north: a distance of 3,110 kilometres or 1,932 miles.

The team collaborates with four different dental associations on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, St Lucia and Grenada. Historically, they have processed subscriptions for Dental Protection and, in some cases, organised and disseminated information to members.

Ruth, Andrew and Steven also work closely with the dental schools to engage with Dental Protection members of the future, and they are also the first line of enquiry for members who have queries about their subscriptions and the coverage that they have.

“Dental Protection member” in Australia means a non-indemnity dental member of MPS. Dental Protection members may hold membership independently or in conjunction with membership of the Australian Dental Association (W.A. Branch) Inc. (“ADAWA”).
    
Dental Protection members who hold membership independently need to apply for, and where applicable maintain, an individual Dental Indemnity Policy underwritten by MDA National Insurance Pty Ltd (“MDANI”), ABN 56 058 271 417, AFS Licence No. 238073. MDANI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MDA National Limited, ABN 67 055 801 771. DPLA is a Corporate Authorised Representative of MDANI with CAR No. 326134. For such Dental Protection members, by agreement with MDANI, DPLA provides point-of-contact member services, case management and colleague-to-colleague support.
    
Dental Protection members who are also ADAWA members need to apply for, and where applicable maintain, an individual Dental Indemnity Policy underwritten by MDANI, which is available in accordance with the provisions of ADAWA membership.
