Salaried Dentists

In some countries, part of the indemnity element is provided from Government funds (or those of an employer) and this results in a reduced subscription, which reflects all the membership benefits except indemnity against negligence claims. However, very few employees are given precise details of the scope and extent of any professional indemnity provided by their employer, and in some situations the employer may either refuse to provide the individual employee with any such indemnity, or alternatively may make a claim against the employee for ‘contribution and indemnity' comprising a financial contribution to any settlement that the employer is required to (or elects to) make, as a result of an act or omission on the part of the employee, as well as any associated legal costs.

Members in employer-indemnified membership grades, while paying a reduced subscription, may still apply to Dental Protection for assistance and support in the above situation.
