Dental Protection rewards vocational training

19 May 2011

Eighteen years ago, Dental Protection was the first UK defence/protection organisation to demonstrate its support for vocational training when it introduced reduced subscription rates for those undertaking vocational (foundation) training and GPT, and in the early years thereafter for those who had successfully completed it.

Dental Protection also regularly provides speakers for VT/FT events all over the country, from dedicated sessions for individual Schemes, up to large Deanery events involving both trainers and trainees. The huge range of risk management and ethical resources created by Dental Protection, many of which were produced with the needs of young dentists in mind, provides a rich source of educational material in a variety of formats to support tutorials and small group workshops.

In a further demonstration of this ongoing commitment, Dental Protection is now offering reduced subscriptions for vocational/foundation trainers, Scheme organisers and Regional VT(FT) advisers. In announcing this decision at the BDA Conference, Kevin Lewis the Director of Dental Protection said:

Dental Protection has never needed any convincing of the importance of recent graduates starting their professional career on a sound footing. Over the years, VT trainers, Scheme Organisers and others have made a huge contribution to risk management and this is our chance to say a big “thank you” to them for all that they do to keep our members safe. 90% of those undertaking foundation training (VT) are members of this organisation and we stand to see the benefits in terms of reduced complaints and claims in the years ahead.
