Rush to the new DPL Website

18 September 2008

With so many members of the dental team using computers at work, the prospect of looking at a new website may seem too much like the day job. Apparently not for Dental Protection members who have been visiting the new website in unprecedented numbers ever since the launch on September 1st.

The new pages have been designed to reflect the needs of the members. Dental Protection used a recent members' survey together with an analysis of the usage of the existing site to establish what things members found most useful and to establish what modifications were required. The content has been organised in groupings that are specific to a member's country of practise and their specific role within the dental team.

One of the most popular features has proven to be the expanded number of DPL publications that are free for members to download. Members of Dental Protection can also obtain up to 27 hours of verifiable CPD online. In addition to the 36 risk management modules and the 12 ethics modules the last two editions of the Annual Review have a multiple choice quiz that can be attempted after reading these publications. The certificate is automatically emailed as an attachment on completion of the quiz.

Another highlight is DPL's position statements and FAQs on ‘hot' dental topics. Kevin Lewis, Dental Director said, "I am delighted that there has been such a positive response to the new website. It is an important additional line of communication that allows us to provide a rapid response to new situations as they come along; providing information and support for the clinical decisions made by our members every hour of the day somewhere in the world."
