Further indemnity benefits for dental nurses and technicians

16 May 2011

Reinforcing the General Dental Council’s policy that indemnity for clinical negligence claims should be a requirement for all registered dental care professionals, Dental Protection confirms that it has expanded the indemnity arrangements for dental nurses and dental technicians so that an unlimited number can be indemnified, under a principal’s own full indemnity subscription, for any clinical negligence claims made against them.

Kevin Lewis, Dental Director said;

“The number of complaints and GDC cases against dental nurses and dental technicians continues to rise. Consequently when this group of registrants choose their indemnity it is not sufficient to limit their protection to clinical negligence claims alone.

Dental Protection would strongly encourage and recommend that both dental nurses and dental technicians have full membership of Dental Protection, either as individuals or part of our DPL Xtra practice programme. In addition to clinical negligence claims, full membership of DPL is free (on application) to every dental nurse and technician working in a DPL Xtra practice. This membership will also provide the necessary individual dento-legal support in protecting their registration together with advice and information to both help prevent problems occurring and to assist in resolving concerns at the earliest possible stage.”

Details about the additional benefits available to dental nurses and technicians provided by DPL Xtra are available from Dental Protection.
