MPS announces membership figures - a quarter of a million members worldwide
30 November 2007
The Medical Protection Society (MPS) today announced that it has now over 250,000 members worldwide. This confirms their status as the largest international indemnifier of healthcare professionals with almost 20% of the membership being serviced by Dental Protection (DPL).
Formed in 1892 MPS has continued to expand over recent years. MPS/DPL now offers support to members in over seventy jurisdictions including UK, Ireland, Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand and the West Indies.
Members have access to expert advice from a 24-hour emergency helpline and at any given time Dental Protection will be handling over 8,500 cases on behalf of members worldwide.
Tony Mason, Chief Executive(MPS) said:
"Reaching a membership of over quarter of million is a milestone and it confirms our position as the only protection organisation that is truly international for healthcare professionals. This shows globally that doctors and dentists still prefer the benefits offered by a discretionary mutual organisation."
Kevin Lewis, Dental Director said:
"Our members tell us that it is the high quality of the protection and peace of mind that DPL provides, that makes it the first choice for dentists. Our collective worldwide experience strengthens our position to offer expert advice and assistance to each and every member, wherever in the world they happen to be."
