Kevin Lewis awarded a Fellowship in Dental Surgery
13 November 2007
The Director of Dental Protection, Kevin Lewis, has been awarded a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
The ceremony held on 9 November 2007 recognised the contribution that Kevin has made to dentistry both in the UK and around the world. Kevin has been at the helm of Dental Protection since 1998, overseeing a period of sweeping changes to the ways in which dentists are both regulated and employed. Before joining Dental Protection, Kevin had established a successful preventive practice in Peterborough. At the same time he also developed the writing and lecturing skills which made him the leading dental personality that he is today.
Commenting on the award, Kathryn Harley, Chair of the DPL Board, said:
"On behalf of the Board of Dental Protection I wish to congratulate Kevin on his award of Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. This honour recognises Kevin's tremendous contribution to dentistry within the UK and throughout the world".
Kevin Lewis, DPL Director, said:
"I feel delighted and very honoured to have received this most unexpected award, and very conscious of all those colleagues who have worked a lot harder than I have for their chosen profession, without being recognised in this way. I am extremely fortunate to have had so many opportunities to serve my profession in such interesting ways throughout my professional career - none of which I could have foreseen at the time I graduated. Hopefully this award will encourage others to seize whatever opportunities come their way, and to make the best of them."
