Workshop Overview

International research shows that clinicians can reduce the risk of complaints and claims by improving communication skills and better managing patient relationships.
This highly interactive 3 hour workshop gives a thorough grounding in the issues surrounding risk management and introduces practical and preventative techniques that dentists can implement immediately to reduce exposure to complaints and litigation.

The workshop will cover:

  • The motivation behind why patients complain
  • The importance of managing patients expectations
  • Practical skills to enhance communication with patients
  • Effective management of patient questions regarding care provided by other healthcare professionals.

Format

A three hour workshop comprising short lectures, reflective exercises, small group facilitated discussions, group activities and rehearsal of skills.

Presenters/facilitators

All Mastering Your Risk presenters are dental practitioners or specialists who have specific interest in communication skills and have undertaken formal communication skills training with DPL.
