As a responsible indemnifier, and in the interests of both members and patients, we will try, wherever possible, to facilitate suitable indemnity for members who wish to undertake cosmetic, adjunctive and other expert procedures, some of which might fall outside the recognised scope of conventional dental practice. Some of these techniques are relatively expensive and are used in elective procedures. The patients who request such treatment tend to be a self-selecting group with high and sometimes unrealistic aesthetic expectations. Any one of these factors alone, would create an above-average potential for litigation when providing such treatment. Together, they represent a considerably greater potential risk.
Dental Protection appreciates and understands the various potential risks associated with the different specialities listed above, and has a long history of facilitating the needs of the specialist practitioner. We also recognise that individual needs may vary.
Please contact the member services team for details of the indemnity available for your own particular area of specialist practice.
