Nikolaus graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1976 and has worked in general practice since qualifying. He has also worked as a part time university clinical lecturer and completed research on antibiotic prescribing in general dental practice and was awarded a PhD in 2001.
He a longstanding member of Sefton LDC and has been its secretary for the last fourteen years and has also served as a member of the Representative Body of the British Dental Association. He is an approved Foundation Dentist trainer with the Mersey Deanery and lectures to FDs, postgraduates and MSc groups and maintains research interests whilst continuing to work in general practice.
He is also a postgraduate tutor and research associate for the Mersey Deanery, has served as Vice Dean, is a national board member and currently chair of the Examinations Committee of the Faculty of General Dental Practice, Royal College of Surgeons of England.
