Dentists working under the GDS in Northern Ireland still work under the ‘old style' contract where there is provision for a Health Board to refer a matter for disciplinary investigation to another Health Board if they believe the dentist may be in breach of their Terms of Service. Whichever system you work under, you should contact your indemnity provider at the earliest opportunity if you feel you could be the subject of a professional challenge.
