SADA Roadshow

  • Dates: 06 – 16 May, 2014
Dr Alasdair McKelvie will be speaking at the DPL SADA Roadshow in May.

Alasdair will be speaking on:

Social media and ethics: the benefits and risks
Most people are aware that this is the age of social media, but did you know what potential this brings to you? Facebook alone is estimated to have more than 50 million users across Africa! This presentation will look at both the positive benefits of embracing social media and the risks which can arise.

Financial consent: avoiding complaints about feesThere has been an unexpected increase in the number of complaints currently being received by the HPCSA and in particular an increase in patient complaints about fees

Quite rightly, Healthcare professionals would expect patients to meet their financial obligations for any service that has been rendered, however the number of complaints would suggest that patients are increasingly likely to express their dissatisfaction to a third party when discrepancies occur between the fees they thought were being charged and the final account.

This presentation explores the reasons for some of the problems that occur and suggests the steps you can take to minimise the risk of a complaint arising.

Please see Alasdair's slide below regarding what should be included within a written treatment estimate setting out the practice policy.
