Mark graduated in dentistry in 1966 from the University of Glasgow. He worked as an anaesthetist in Israel and then returned to Glasgow to take up a post as lecturer in General Anatomy, Paedodontics and Restorative Dentistry.
In 1971 he was appointed Registrar in the Eastman Dental Institute, University of London and served on the London Post-Graduate Education Committee, the Council of the British Dental Association and the Medicine and Drugs Committee. He appeared often on radio and television as spokesman for the British Dental Association.
In 1979 he relocated to Israel where he set up private practice. He worked from 1982 as Medico-legal Adviser for the Medical Defence Union in Israel and in 1991 became Head of Professional Services. In 1986 he was awarded a Fellowship of the International College of Dentists. He completed a three year course in Medical Jurisprudence at the University of Tel Aviv in 1990. He then served in the national Forensic Medicine Institute for many years.
In 1993 he was appointed as our Dento-Legal Consultant in Israel and is responsible for the handling and supervision of claims for both the dental and medical membership. In 2010 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Israel Arab Dental Society in recognition of assistance and advice provided on its foundation. He has written for textbooks and journals on risk management and lectures extensively to doctors, dentists and students.
