DPL is committed to providing New Zealand dentists with education that reduces their risk of complaints and improves outcomes for their patients. Since its launch in 2009 almost one third of New Zealand dentists have attended DPL’s Mastering Your Risk workshop.
2011 will see the launch of a new workshop—Mastering Adverse Outcomes. This workshop gives dentists proven techniques and skills to identify and deal with patients who are extremely disappointed with the outcome of their treatment. Evidence shows that how a dentist communicates with a disappointed patient is a key influence in the patient’s decision to make a complaint.
